MappeMonde – J. Migeon & Ch. Lacoste, Paris, c. 1860s

Double-hemisphere world map engraved by L. Smith and A. Briet under the direction of cartographer J. Migeon. Fine hand-coloring and French geographic labeling. From Migeon’s mid-19th-century atlas series published in Paris. Clean impression with visible centerfold and wide margins.

Condition Summary: Good overall with strong color and clean print. Minor edge wear, including a small tear at the bottom centerfold and a nick at the lower right corner. Light toning along the fold. Two mounting tape marks on the back. No major stains or repairs. Left side of the map, within the middle, is very fragile and must be handled with the upmost care. Map is very delicate and will be packaged as such. Great care must be taken when unwrapping the map. Please see photos for further analysis of the condition of the map.
